The Texas Water Development Board approves $5,361,916 in economically disadvantaged funding to Airline Improvement District (Harris County) to finance water and wastewater projects

AUSTIN  (February 20, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,361,916 to the Airline Improvement District (Harris County) consisting of a $5,084,916 grant and a $277,000 loan from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to finance water and wastewater projects.

The Airline Improvement District intends to use the funds to provide first-time water and wastewater service to approximately 109 water connections and 200 wastewater connections. The project will provide the area with much needed service to ensure public health and compliance. The district has completed the design phase and is ready to begin construction with the approved funding.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
