AUSTIN  (March 17, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $38,260,000 to the City of San Antonio, acting by and through the San Antonio Water System (Bexar County), consisting of a loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. The assistance will finance wastewater system improvements.

By using TWDB-s Clean Water State Revolving fund, the San Antonio Water System will save over $9.4 million in interest over the life of the loan.

The City of San Antonio intends to use the funds to rehabilitate existing sewer lines, construct a new sewer line, and reduce sanitary sewer overflows.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
