Texas Water Development Board swears in new Board member

AUSTIN  (March 18, 2014) – Today, Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) Chairman Carlos Rubinstein swore in Kathleen Jackson as the newest member of the Board at the agency's offices in Austin.

"Kathleen Jackson's experience with water issues and water conservation will be a great asset to the Texas Water Development Board," said Rubinstein. -"I look forward to working with her on the agency's many important tasks."

Jackson is a registered professional engineer and former public affairs manager for Exxon Mobil Corp. She is a former board member of the Texas Water Conservation Association and former member of the Sabine and Neches Rivers Bay and Estuary Environmental Flows Assessment Program Stakeholders Committee, Lower Neches Valley Authority Board of Directors and Lower Neches Basin Water Quality Assessment Program Steering Committee. -She has also been an active member in numerous community organizations including the Jason Alliance of Southeast Texas, Young Audiences of Southeast Texas Inc., and the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and Minority Business Development Partnership.

"The Texas Water Development Board is fortunate to have a new Board member with such breadth and scope of experience. In these critical months of implementing the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas, her expertise will be invaluable," said TWDB Board member Bech Bruun.

Jackson holds a bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University. She was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to serve as a member of the Board for a term effective March 18, 2014 and to expire on February 1, 2015.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
