The Texas Water Development Board today approved financial assistance totaling $1,785,000

AUSTIN  (May 15, 2014)  Today, The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved financial assistance for needed water supply projects in two areas of the state. The assistance will allow for the planning and design costs associated with a new water supply connection in rapidly growing northeast Texas. It will also fund an emergency water project to help relieve drought-related water shortages in south Texas.

  • $485,000 in financial assistance to the Greater Texoma Utility on behalf of the City of Van Alstyne (Grayson County) to finance a new water supply connection
  • $1,300,000 in financial assistance to the City of Elsa (Hidalgo County) to finance an emergency raw water interconnect

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
