AUSTIN  (May 15, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $485,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the Greater Texoma Utility Authority (Grayson County). The financial assistance will help address the planning and design costs associated with a water supply project for the fast-growing City of Van Alstyne.

By accessing TWDB funding, the Authority could save an estimated $21,574 in interest and principal over the life of the loan.

The Greater Texoma Utility Authority requested the funding on behalf of the City of Van Alstyne. The loan will allow for the planning and design costs of a connection to the Collin-Grayson Municipal Alliance, providing additional water supplies to Van Alstyne.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
