Texas Water Development Board approves approximately $197,300 in an agricultural water conservation grant to the North Plains Groundwater Conservation District

AUSTIN  (May 29, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved an agricultural water conservation grant in the amount of approximately $197,300 to the North Plains Groundwater Conservation District (Dallam, Hansford, Lipscomb, Ochiltree, Sherman, Hartley, Hutchinson, and Moore counties). The grant will assist in continuing the support of agricultural field demonstration projects.

The North Plains Groundwater Conservation District will use the funds to continue demonstrations of innovative irrigation management practices and strategies on producers' farms to reduce water use.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
