The Texas Water Development Board today approved financial assistance totaling $2,920,000 for water and wastewater improvements. Of this funding, $2,545,000 was designated for rural water projects.

AUSTIN  (July 10, 2014)  Today, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved financial assistance for various water projects across the state. The three cities receiving financial assistance are all first-time customers at the TWDB. The projects funded by TWDB will allow for financing of multiple water system improvement projects.- The financing for rural water projects will allow for the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and other water system improvements.

  • $375,000 in financial assistance to the City of El Campo (Wharton County) to finance planning, acquisition and design for water system improvements
  • $2,375,000 in financial assistance to the City of Iraan (Pecos County) to finance planning, acquisition, design and construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and water system improvements
  • $170,000 in financial assistance to the City of O'Brien (Haskell County) to finance the planning, design, and construction for water system improvements

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
