AUSTIN  (July 10, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution loan forgiveness in the amount of $170,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of O'Brien (Haskell County). The assistance will allow the City of O'Brien to finance the planning, design and construction of water system improvements.

The City plans to rehabilitate its main pump station and replace the existing well pump and all customer meters within the system. The project is the result of collaboration between the City, North Central Texas Municipal Water Authority, and Knox City.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
