The Texas Water Development Board today approved financial assistance totaling $4,118,000 for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (July 24, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved financial assistance for water system improvement projects. The assistance provided by TWDB will allow these communities to address issues related to their water transmission lines. In addition, the assistance will help the cities reduce the amount of water lost from leaking distribution lines.

• $3,695,000 in financial assistance to the Greater Texoma Utility Authority on behalf of the Lake Kiowa Special Utility District (Cooke County) for water system improvements
• $423,000 in financial assistance to the City of Alice (Jim Wells County) to address aging infrastructure

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
