AUSTIN  (August 7, 2014)  Today, the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) held a Board meeting in Austin to discuss various TWDB issues.

The meeting was divided into a morning and afternoon session. In the morning session, the Board considered the interregional conflict between the Region C and Region D Regional Water Plans. In a 2-1 vote, the Board determined that Region C needs to conduct additional quantitative analysis of agricultural and natural resource impacts for its proposed Marvin Nichols reservoir strategy. The analysis is due by November 3, 2014.

In the afternoon session, TWDB approved financial assistance to the Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 36 (Harris County) for water system improvements. The assistance will allow the District to finance design and construction costs associated with water facility and line improvements.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
