AUSTIN  (August 8, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) will hold a work session in San Angelo at the McNease Convention Center, South Meeting Room - City Council Chambers, 500 Rio Concho Drive, on August 13, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. The TWDB Board will be briefed on the rule development process for state water plan funding through the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) and State Water Implementation Revenue Fund for Texas (SWIRFT).

The rules will define standards for rural, conservation and reuse projects and also propose prioritization criteria for projects seeking financial assistance for state water plan funding. This is the second of three work sessions being conducted around the state to gather comments and suggestions on the rules. TWDB has already hosted a work session in San Antonio and will have the third work session in Fort Worth later this month. The formal comment period for the rules is open until September 1, 2014.

The work session will also include a presentation on drought conditions across the state and an overview of the State Water Plan Interactive Website. In addition, the Board will consider financial assistance for water and wastewater improvement projects.

The public is encouraged to attend and provide public comment on the draft rules.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
