AUSTIN  (August 13, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a loan in the amount of $10,000,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Laredo (Webb County). The assistance will allow the City to finance the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant.

The City could save approximately $2,003,127 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

To meet the demands of its growing population, the City will construct a new 1.75-million-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment plant with the financial assistance approved by TWDB. Through future phases, the City plans to expand the plant to 6.0 million gallons per day to accommodate the rapidly growing population.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
