The Texas Water Development Board today approved financial assistance totaling $5,653,008 for a multi-phase drainage project and water system upgrades

AUSTIN – (August 22, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved financial assistance for a multi-phase drainage project and improvements to a local water system. The assistance will allow these communities to address flooding concerns and upgrade a very small water system.

  • $5,599,008 in financial assistance, in the form of a grant, to the Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 (Hidalgo and Willacy Counties) for a multi-phase drainage project
  • $54,000 in financial assistance to Derby Ing. Utility (Frio County) for water system upgrades

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state’s water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
