AUSTIN  (September 4, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,164,980, consisting of a $820,000 loan and $344,980 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, to the City of Los Fresnos (Cameron County). The assistance will allow the City to finance planning and design costs associated with wastewater system improvements.

Los Fresnos could save approximately $442,540 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved by TWDB, the city will be able to improve and expand its wastewater collection system. The project will include replacing sewer collection lines, as well as rehabilitating three existing lift stations and addressing other needed improvements. In addition, the collection system will be extended to 55 homes on the west side of the City.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
