AUSTIN  (November 6, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $150,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of El Campo (Wharton County). The assistance will allow the City to finance planning and design costs associated with wastewater treatment plant upgrades.

The City could save approximately $5,512 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

Upgrades at the plant include the construction of a new effluent filter and new belt filter press. The effluent filter will allow the City to meet necessary requirements for Type I effluent reuse and the belt filter will improve the system-s reliability.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
