AUSTIN  (November 6, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved by resolution loan forgiveness in the amount of $200,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the Port Mansfield Utility District (Willacy County). The assistance will allow the District to finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with the rehabilitation of an elevated storage tank.

With the funding approved today, the District will be able to carry out emergency structural repairs to the storage tank. In addition, the District will be able to apply a protective coating to the steel on the inside and outside of the tank to prevent corrosion damage. The project will improve the conditions of the storage tank and the reliability of the system.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
