Texas Water Development Board approves $39,000,000 in financial assistance to the City of Fort Worth (Tarrant, Denton, Johnson, Parker, and Wise counties) for improvements at the Big Fossil Creek Drainage Basin and the Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility

AUSTIN – (November 20, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $39,000,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Fort Worth (Tarrant, Denton, Johnson, Parker, and Wise counties). The assistance will finance construction of improvements at the Big Fossil Creek Drainage Basin and the Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility.

The City could save approximately $4,668,380 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The improvements to the Big Fossil Creek Drainage Basin and Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility will include replacing wastewater infrastructure and completing a 340-million-gallon-peak flow storage basin. The improvements will allow the City to have sufficient treatment capacity without expanding its facilities for many years.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
