The Texas Water Development Board today approved financial assistance totaling $63,053,374. Of this funding, $26,170,074 was designated for rural water projects.

AUSTIN – (December 11, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved financial assistance for multiple water and wastewater projects around the state. Seven of the eleven projects approved will benefit rural communities: the Port Mansfield Public Utility District; Upper Leon River Municipal Water District, which has two projects; Orangefield Water Supply Corporation; City of Johnson City; Bandera River Ranch Water Supply Corporation; and City of Seagraves.

  • $2,755,300 in financial assistance to the City of Euless (Tarrant County) for a reclaimed water system expansion
  • $3,560,000 in financial assistance to the Greater Texoma Utility Authority on behalf of the City of Sherman (Grayson County) for wastewater system improvements
  • $600,000 in financial assistance to the Port Mansfield Public Utility District (Willacy County) for a groundwater storage system
  • $1,568,000 in financial assistance to the North Alamo Water Supply Corporation (Hidalgo County) for a wastewater collection and treatment system
  • $14,105,766 in financial assistance to the Upper Leon River Municipal Water District (Comanche, Coryell, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton, and Lampasas Counties) for construction of a water treatment plant
  • $5,179,308 in financial assistance to the Upper Leon River Municipal Water District (Comanche, Coryell, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton, and Lampasas Counties) for a new groundwater well field
  • $29,000,000 in financial assistance to the San Jacinto River Authority (Harris and Montgomery Counties) for canal system rehabilitation
  • $1,565,000 in financial assistance to the Orangefield Water Supply Corporation (Orange County) for a wastewater collection system
  • $895,000 in financial assistance to the City of Johnson City (Blanco County) for wastewater treatment plant improvements and reuse project
  • $450,000 in financial assistance to the Bandera River Ranch Water Supply Corporation (Bandera County) for water system improvements
  • $3,375,000 in financial assistance to the City of Seagraves (Gaines County) for water and wastewater system improvements

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
