AUSTIN – (December 11, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $600,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, consisting of a $220,000 loan and $380,000 in loan forgiveness, to the Port Mansfield Public Utility District (Willacy County). The assistance will finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with the replacement of the ground storage system.

The District could save approximately $679,710 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The financial assistance approved today will allow the District to replace its three ground storage tanks with a single 350,000-gallon ground storage tank. The project will result in an improved water system for the District.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
