AUSTIN – (January 29, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $275,960 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, consisting of a $140,000 loan and $135,960 in loan forgiveness, to the City of Gorman (Eastland County). The assistance will finance planning and design for water system improvements.

The City could save approximately $6,812 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and see additional savings from the grant.

With the assistance approved today, the City will replace 25,000 linear feet of piping and replace existing water meters with electronic readers. The improvements to the City's water system will reduce water loss and provide more accurate accounting of water use.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
