Texas Water Development Board approves $22,075,000 in financial assistance to the City of Laredo (Webb County) for a wastewater treatment plant expansion project

AUSTIN – (March 26, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $22,075,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Laredo (Webb County). The City will be able to finance the construction costs associated with expanding the South Laredo Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The City could save approximately $5,500,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The assistance approved today will allow the City to expand the capacity of the South Laredo Wastewater Treatment Plant from 12 million gallons per day to 18 million gallons per day.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
