Texas Water Development Board approves $170,000 in financial assistance to the City of Melvin (McCulloch County) for a water treatment facility

AUSTIN – (March 26, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $170,000, consisting of an $85,000 loan and an $85,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program, to the City of Melvin (McCulloch County). The assistance will finance the planning and design phases for a water treatment facility.

The City could save approximately $100,906 over the life of the loan by using the Economically Distressed Areas Program.

When the water treatment facility is complete, it will be used to treat the City's existing water source.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
