AUSTIN – (July 23, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $8,000,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Fort Bend County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 (Fort Bend County). The District will be able to finance design and construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The District could save approximately $371,681 over the life of the loan by using the Texas Water Development Fund.

The District will be able to replace water distribution lines and expand its water treatment plant with the financial assistance approved today. The replacement of distribution lines will allow for an increase in water pressure. By expanding the water treatment plant, the District will be able to create additional storage capacity and water supplies for its service area.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
