Texas Water Development Board approves $8,790,000 in financial assistance to the City of Glen Rose (Somervell County) for a wastewater treatment plant expansion

AUSTIN – (October 28, 2015) –The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $8,790,000, consisting of a $3,520,000 loan and a $3,520,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) and a $1,750,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, to the City of Glen Rose (Somervell County). The assistance will allow the City to fund construction costs associated with expanding its wastewater treatment plant and rehabilitating portions of its collection system.

The City could save approximately $4,695,877 over the life of the financing by using EDAP and approximately $401,252 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The City will be able to modify the treatment process, expand the treatment capacity, and rehabilitate the wastewater treatment plant and collection system with the assistance approved today. The TWDB previously committed $740,000 from EDAP for the planning and design phases of this project.-

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
