Texas Water Development Board approves $31,461,891 to Kerr County for wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (December 14, 2015) –-The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $31,461,891, consisting of a $14,050,618 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) and $12,116,273 in loan forgiveness and $5,295,000 in loans from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) to Kerr County. The County will be able to finance the acquisition and construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements.

In addition to the savings from loan forgiveness and the grant, the County could save approximately $1.5 million over the life of the loans by using the CWSRF program.

The County will be able to construct a first-time wastewater collection system with the assistance approved today. The system will serve 513 connections in the community of Center Point and the surrounding areas.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
