Texas Water Development Board approves $2,100,000 in financial assistance to the City of Kosse (Limestone County) for a water supply project

AUSTIN – (December 14, 2015) –-The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $2,100,000, consisting of a $1,050,000 loan and a $1,050,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) to the City of Kosse (Limestone County). The City will be able to finance the construction costs associated with a water supply project.

In addition to the savings from the grant, the City could save approximately $26,000 over the life of the loan by using EDAP.

With the assistance approved today, the City will be able to construct a water treatment plant and two water supply wells.- The City will also construct transmission lines connecting the new water treatment plant and water wells to the City's distribution system. The City previously received $449,000 from EDAP for the planning, acquisition, and design phases of this project. The project is identified as a primary water supply strategy in the State Water Plan.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
