AUSTIN – (December 14, 2015) –-The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,815,000, consisting of a $915,000 loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) and a $900,00 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving fund (CWSRF), to the City of Liberty (Liberty County). The City will be able to finance water and wastewater system improvements with the assistance approved today.

The City could save approximately $85,000 over the life of the loans by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The assistance provided by the DWSRF will allow the City to plan and design water system improvements. The improvements include rehabilitating an existing water well and constructing a new water well and ground storage tank. When complete, the project will help to reduce water loss and increase water pressure.

The City will also be able to finance planning costs associated with wastewater system improvements by utilizing the CWSRF. In addition, the City will be able to evaluate expanding services to unserved areas of the City.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
