Texas Water Development Board approves $16,547,000 to the Nueces River Authority (Real County) for a wastewater treatment plant

AUSTIN – (December 14, 2015) –-The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of a $16,547,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) to the Nueces River Authority (Real County). The Authority will be able to construct a wastewater treatment plant and collection system with the assistance provided today.

When complete, the Authority will be able to provide first-time wastewater services to the City of Leakey and surrounding subdivisions. The Authority previously received $13,666,439 from the EDAP and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund for the planning, acquisition and design phases of this project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
