AUSTIN  (May 5, 2016)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $24,676,713, consisting of a $9,305,000 loan and $2,680,175 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) and a $12,000,000 loan and $691,538 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving fund (CWSRF), to the City of Cameron (Milam County). The City will be able to finance water and wastewater system improvements with the assistance approved today.

In addition to the savings from the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $4,000,000 over the life of the loans by using the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds.

The City will be able to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements by utilizing the DWSRF. The financial assistance will allow the City to make necessary improvements at its water treatment plant, including water line replacements and valve installation.

The assistance provided by the CWSRF will allow the City to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements. The improvements include the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant adjacent to the existing treatment plant. The existing treatment plant will be used for additional treatment capacity as needed.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
