The Texas Water Development Board approves $19,424,567 in financial assistance for water and wastewater system improvements projects

AUSTIN  (June 14, 2016) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance totaling $19,424,567 for water and wastewater system improvement projects. Of this funding, $11,075,000 was designated for rural water projects.

  • $5,260,000 to the City of Jefferson (Marion County) for water and wastewater system improvements
  • $5,815,000 to the Laguna Madre Water District (Cameron County) for wastewater system improvements
  • $8,349,567 to the City of McAllen (Hidalgo County) for wastewater system improvements

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
