Texas Water Development Board approves $2,820,000 to the City of Montgomery (Montgomery County) for water and wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (March 9, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2,820,000, consisting of a $1,730,000 loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) and a $1,090,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), to the City of Montgomery (Montgomery County). The City will be able to finance water and wastewater system improvements with the assistance approved today.

The City could save approximately $350,000 over the life of the loans by using the Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Funds.

The City will be able to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements by utilizing the DWSRF. The financial assistance will allow the City to construct a 10,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank, a cooling tower, and a 210,000-gallon ground storage tank. The City will also install approximately 4,000 linear feet of water main, improving the water flow and pressure to the western extents of the City.

The assistance provided by the CWSRF will allow the City to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements. The improvements include the replacement of existing lift station pumps and the rerouting of existing pipeline. The project will accommodate the planned widening of Farm-to-Market 149.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
