AUSTIN – (March 29, 2017)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $822,054, consisting of a $580,000 loan and $242,054 in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Winters (Runnels County). The City will use the assistance to finance water system improvements.

In addition to the savings from the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $75,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The assistance provided today will allow the City to finance construction costs associated with improvements at its water treatment plant. The City will install a new well, update and install equipment, and replace water transmission lines. The improvements will help to reduce water loss and improve efficiency.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
