AUSTIN – (May 31, 2017) - The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $135,000 from the Texas Water Development Fund to the Greater Texoma Utility Authority on behalf of the City of Tom Bean (Grayson County). The assistance will allow the Authority to finance construction costs associated with a water supply project.

The City of Tom Bean currently relies on two water wells for their water supply. The assistance approved today will allow the City to construct a third water well. The additional capacity from the third well will ensure the City maintains a sufficient water supply. The TWDB previously committed $1,210,000 through the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) program* for this project in 2015.

*The SWIFT program includes two funds, the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) and the State Water Implementation Revenue Fund for Texas (SWIRFT). Revenue bonds for the program are issued through SWIRFT.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
