AUSTIN – (May 31, 2017)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $16,731,454, consisting of a $5,085,000 loan and $11,646,454 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, to the Town of Vinton (El Paso County). With the assistance provided today, the Town will be able to finance the first construction phase of a wastewater project for first-time service to the area.

The financial assistance approved today could save the Town approximately $1.3 million over the life of the loan, in addition to the loan forgiveness.

The Town will construct a new centralized wastewater collection system with the assistance approved today. The system will provide first-time wastewater service to 337 connections. The TWDB previously funded $2,710,860 for the planning, acquisition, and design phases of this project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
