Texas Water Development Board approves $10.5 million to the City of San Antonio (Bexar County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (September 7, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $10.5 million from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City San Antonio (Bexar County), acting by and through the San Antonio Water System (SAWS). The City will use the assistance to finance construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The City could save approximately $1.8 million over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The City will be able to replace electrical systems, piping, and valves and make other necessary improvements at SAWS' Zarzamora Pump Station with the assistance approved today.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
