Texas Water Development Board approves $725,000 to the Sandy Land Underground Water Conservation District (Yoakum County) for an agricultural water conservation equipment loan program

AUSTIN – (October 17, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $725,000 from the Agricultural Water Conservation Loan Program to the Sandy Land Underground Water Conservation District (Yoakum County). The District will use the assistance for an agricultural water conservation equipment loan program.

The District could save approximately $104,000 over the life of the loan by using the Agricultural Water Conservation Loan Program.

The District will maximize water resources for area farmers with the assistance approved today. The assistance will allow the District to finance water-conserving irrigation systems, drip irrigation loans, and sprinkler package conversions of existing systems.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
