Texas Water Development Board approves $2 million to the City of Gorman (Eastland County) for water system improvements

AUSTIN – (December 7, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2 million, consisting of a $1 million loan and $1 million in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Gorman (Eastland County). The City will use the assistance to finance construction costs associated with water system improvements.

The City could save approximately $214,000 over the life of the loan, in addition to the loan forgiveness.

With the assistance approved today, the City will replace approximately 25,000 linear feet of piping and replace existing water meters with electronic readers. The project will help reduce water loss within the system. The TWDB previously financed the planning and design phases of this project. 

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
