AUSTIN  (March 24, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $602,600, consisting of a $425,000 loan and $177,600 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund. The assistance will finance the planning and design of a project to provide first-time wastewater service to the Havana area.

The Havana community does not have centralized wastewater service. The financial assistance from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund will allow the City of La Joya to plan and design a project to meet that need.- The City will evaluate collection system alternatives and determine the most cost-effective option to serve Havana. By using TWDB's Clean Water State Revolving Fund, La Joya will save $232,155 over the life of the loan.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
