AUSTIN  (April 17, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $296,700, consisting of a $210,000 loan and $86,700 in loan forgiveness from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, to the City of Ballinger (Runnels County). The assistance will finance planning and design for the rehabilitation and expansion of Ballinger-s wastewater treatment plant.

By accessing TWDB funding, the city could save an estimated $100,371 in interest and principal over the life of the loan.

Ballinger will use the financial assistance to begin the planning process to address the needed expansion of the plant. The city has considered innovative and alternative methods of treatment and will continue to evaluate alternatives during the planning phase of the project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
