Texas Water Development Board approves a grant in the amount of $330,730 to El Paso Water Utilities (El Paso County) to finance first-time water and wastewater services to the Canutillo area

AUSTIN  (April 17, 2014)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $330,730 to El Paso Water Utilities, on behalf of the City of El Paso (El Paso County), consisting of a grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program. The grant will finance costs for first-time water and wastewater services to the Canutillo area.

The grant will fund planning, acquisition and design costs for installation of wastewater main lines and 44 service connections. Water lines are also proposed for the households in the project area.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
