The Texas Water Development Board today approved financial assistance totaling $11,382,305 for water and wastewater improvements. Of this funding, $667,505 was designated for rural water projects.

AUSTIN – (June 18, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approved financial assistance for various water projects across the state. The projects funded by TWDB will allow these communities to develop additional water supplies, including an emergency water supply project. The financing will also fund a water conservation center and several water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The financing for rural water projects will allow for water system upgrades and water supply projects.

  • $620,000 in financial assistance to the North Plains Groundwater Conservation District (Lipscomb, Ochiltree, Hansford, Dallam, Sherman, and portions of Hartley, Moore, and Hutchinson counties) to build a water conservation center
  • $603,500 in financial assistance to the City of Winters (Runnels County) to finance a water supply project
  • $1,780,000 in financial assistance to the Greater Texoma Utility Authority (Grayson County) for wastewater treatment plant improvements
  • $785,000 in financial assistance to Bandera County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 (Bandera County) to finance an emergency water supply project
  • $200,000 in financial assistance to the Holly Huff Water Supply Corporation (Jasper County) to finance an additional water supply source
  • $63,805 in financial assistance to the New Ulm Water Supply Corporation (Colorado County) for water system upgrades
  • $5,960,000 in financial assistance to the City of Port Arthur (Jefferson County) to finance planning and design of a new wastewater treatment plant
  • $1,370,000 in financial assistance to the City of Port Arthur (Jefferson County) to address aging infrastructure

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
