Texas Water Development Board approves $5,179,308 in financial assistance to the Upper Leon River Municipal Water District (Comanche, Coryell, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton, and Lampasas Counties) for a new groundwater well field

AUSTIN – (December 11, 2014) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $5,179,308, consisting of a $3,650,000 loan and $1,529,308 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, to the Upper Leon River Municipal Water District (Comanche, Coryell, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton, and Lampasas Counties). The assistance will finance a new groundwater well field.

The District could save approximately $3,615,157 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The financial assistance approved today will allow the District to plan, acquire, design, and construct a new groundwater well field to develop additional water supply sources needed because of the ongoing drought.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
