AUSTIN – (January 29, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution a $942,000 grant from the Economically Distressed Areas Program to Val Verde County. The assistance will finance the planning, acquisition and design costs for a water distribution system.

The funding approved by the TWDB will allow the County to provide first-time water service to the three colonia areas east of Del Rio. The project will connect those areas with Del Rio's public water supply.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
