Texas Water Development Board approves $2,460,000 in financial assistance to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 50 (Harris County) for wastewater system improvements and a new wastewater treatment plant

AUSTIN – (February 25, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2,460,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 50 (Harris County). The financial assistance will allow the District to finance planning, design and construction costs associated with wastewater treatment plant improvements and a new wastewater treatment plant.

The District could save approximately $356,500 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The District will be able to complete improvements at its wastewater system and construct a new wastewater treatment plant with the financial assistance approved today. The new wastewater treatment plant will serve the north side of the district.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
