AUSTIN – (July 23, 2015) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $82,105,000 from the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) to the North Texas Municipal Water District (Collin, Hunt, Rockwall, Dallas, Kaufman, Ellis, Rains, Fannin, and Denton counties). The assistance will finance the acquisition and construction work ancillary to the Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir.

The District could save approximately $9,694,284 over the life of the loan by using SWIFT.

The District proposes to build the Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir to offset the projected water supply shortages in the District's service area. The reservoir would yield 126,000 acre-feet per year and provide an additional water supply for the District. The assistance approved today will allow the District to finance acquisition activities and construction costs for additional land mitigation.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
