The Texas Water Development Board approves $9,365,000 in financial assistance for water system and wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (May 19, 2016) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved financial assistance totaling $9,365,000 for water system and wastewater system improvements. Of this funding, $290,000 was designated for rural water projects.
- $4,075,000 to the Sunbelt Fresh Water Supply District (Harris County) for wastewater system improvements and a water supply project
- $200,000 to the New Ulm Water Supply Corporation (Austin and Colorado counties) for a ground storage tank
- $5 million to the City of Sweetwater (Nolan County) for water system improvements
- $90,000 to the Bluegrove Water Supply Corporation (Clay County) for water system improvements
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
