Texas Water Development Board approves $10,635,000 to the City of La Porte (Harris County) for wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (October 5, 2016) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $10,635,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of La Porte (Harris County). The City will use the assistance to finance the planning, acquisition, design, and construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements.

The City could save approximately $1.5 million over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The assistance will be used to consolidate the City's Lomax area wastewater lift stations. The project includes replacing nine existing lift stations with a single lift station and reconstructing an additional existing lift station.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
