AUSTIN – (May 31, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $4,805,000, consisting of a $2,205,000 loan and $200,000 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and a $2,400,000 loan from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), to the City of Rogers (Bell County). The City will be able to finance water and wastewater system improvements with the assistance approved today.
The financial assistance approved today could save the City approximately $900,000 over the life of the loans, in addition to the loan forgiveness.
The assistance provided by the DWSRF will allow the City to finance the planning, design, acquisition, and construction costs associated with water system improvements. The City will reduce water loss through replacement of water lines and secure additional water supply with the construction of a new water well and ground storage tank.
The City will be able to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with improvements at the City's wastewater treatment plant with the assistance received from the CWSRF. The assistance will allow the City to replace wastewater collection lines and make improvements to manholes and lift station equipment.
The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
