AUSTIN – (May 31, 2017)  The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $2,285,000 from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the City of San Juan (Hidalgo County). The assistance will finance the construction of an expansion to the wastewater collection system.

The City could save approximately $500,000 over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The City will be able to provide first-time wastewater service to seven colonia areas within the City of San Juan's boundaries with the assistance provided today. The TWDB previously funded $270,000 from the Economically Distressed Areas Program (EDAP) for the planning, acquisition, and design phases of this project.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
