Texas Water Development Board approves $43 million to the San Jacinto River Authority (Harris and Montgomery counties) for wastewater system improvements

AUSTIN – (July 6, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $43 million from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the San Jacinto River Authority (Harris and Montgomery counties). The Authority will use the assistance to finance design and construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements.

The Authority could save approximately $7.6 million over the life of the loan by using the Clean Water State Revolving Fund.

The Authority will replace approximately two miles of pipeline and other equipment at the treatment facility with the financial assistance approved today.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
